50 years ago, the first WTC tower was inaugurated in the North district. The original idea for the Manhattan Project included 54 towers over an area of 53 hectares! It will never completely see the light of day, but has profoundly changed the dynamics of the neighborhood.
Around the North Station and Boulevard Roi Albert II there are office buildings of all types. The aesthetics of infrastructures focuses solely on their economic functions. Hence the term functionalist architecture. Sometimes punctuated by works of art.
For around ten years, public and private actors have wanted to revive the neighborhood and make offices coexist with residents. Our guide is one of them and will invite you to end the tour at his place. From the balcony of his apartment, on the 11th floor, you gain an overview of the past, present and future developments of the neighborhood.
