Located along the Senne and the Brussels-Charleroi Canal, this river location has influenced the development and history of Halle.
It is also a Marian city, with the pilgrimage to the statue of the Black Madonna at the Basilica of Saint-Martin.
And, Halle also saw Philippe the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, breathe his last there.
